How to Resurface Your Garage Floor in 5 Simples Steps?
Concrete is undoubtedly one of the strongest construction materials out there. Garage floors made of concrete are extremely durable and heavy-duty but even that isn’t immune to the steady trudging of time and wear. Over the years, the wear from regular traffic ends up taking away from the appearance of your floor. If you do not take care of your floor well enough, it will eventually develop pits and cracks. Not only are these unsightly they also compromise the strength of the floor.
Thankfully, garage floor resurfacing is an easy way to fix pitted, cracked concrete. It is an effective solution to restoring your floor to its former glory and only uses materials and equipment that are easily available in the market. And the best part? You can do it yourself!

How To Resurface A Garage Floor?
STEP 1
Clean your floor. Before your pour the resurfacer, make sure there are no oil stains, etc. Scrub with a degreaser, followed up a stiff brush. Use the pressure washer to get rid of dirt and debris (rinse twice for the best results).
Wait for the concrete to dry and go over with the push broom one final time to remove any remaining dirt or loose concrete.
STEP 2
Do away with loose fragments along the cracks. Take a hammer and chisel to the adjoining areas and bust away the weakened concrete. Tap your hammer lightly on the floor and listen for hollow sounds. This indicates concrete that’s been eaten away from underneath.
Once you are done, clean the floor of the concrete rubble and vacuum any dust. Then mark the pits and craters that need filling.
STEP 3
Mix some resurfacer using the drill. Make a note to keep the consistency thick and stiff. Trowel the resurface mix to the crack and fill the cracks, pits, divot, and craters. Smooth it down such that the surface is level. Let the resurface dry.
STEP 4
It is now time to mix the resurfacer. Lightly mist the concrete to keep it from absorbing moisture from the mix. This will help the layer adhere better.
Mix the resurfacer with the drill until you have a mixture of the consistency of pancake batter. Remember the consistency plays an important role so it’s important the mixture is neither too runny nor too dense.
Do not let the mix sit for too long as the material has a short pot-life.
STEP 5
Work with a friend to apply the resurfacer quickly and with precision. Start pouring at one end of your floor and work towards the other. Evenly spread the material using a squeegee. Push forward and then pull back to smooth out the ridges. Let the resurfacer settle for around 5 minutes and then run a push broom against it to add texture to the surface.
Let the coating set for a minimum of 6 hours before walking on it. Sometimes, for a better finish, you can also go over with another layer after 24 hours of the first. Let the mixture cure for another few days before you drive on your brand new garage floor.
