Epoxy Floor Types and Its Benefits
If you are in search of a flooring solution for your commercial building, multiplex, healthcare facility, educational complex or any other industrial construction, epoxy is the answer for you. Epoxy is one of the strongest and most long-lasting flooring resins made out of two components that have totally different polymers. Epoxy floor coating is chosen by many builders based out of Oklahoma City.
Types of Epoxies:
Primarily, the three main epoxy floor coatings are Novolac, Bisphenol A, and Bisphenol F. Each of these three coatings has its own specifications and benefits. It will depend on the type of additives you are using to make sure you get the best out of the floor solution.
Novolac: Bisphenol F Resins are modified and mixed with excess phenol to create Novolac. Since Novolac is more viscose, it is more functional in comparison to Bisphenol A and Bisphenol F. As a result, Novolac proves to be more chemical and heat resistant than Bisphenol A and Bisphenol F. However, the density of the tight crosslink that causes Novolac to be so functional is also the reason behind it being brittle. Novolac is the costliest among the three epoxy floor coating options.
Bisphenol A: If you have ever used any form of resin for floor coating, you may have definitely used Bisphenol A as it is the most commonly used resin. Bisphenol A is available in different molecular weights and hence, it is such a versatile option for epoxy floor coating. You may need to add diluents or other additives to make the thick resin workable.
Bisphenol F: Even though you will find Bisphenol F to be on the costlier side, it proves to be one of the most versatile resins out of the three. Since Bisphenol F has a lower viscosity, you do not need to add as much diluents or additives as you would need for the other two variants.
