A helpful guide to Repair Garage Floor Cracks and Pitting

There is no doubt that concrete is one of the most sturdy construction and durable materials. For this reason, the experts use concrete to make garage floors. But it can start to pit because of various reasons such as natural aging, inadequate mixing, finishing techniques and improper subgrade below. Cracks on the garage floor may occur due to the expansion of the concrete to adapt to the current temperature. Whenever you notice such signs, contact a garage floor crack repair service promptly. Otherwise, the condition gets worse over time.

The Repairing Process

1. Prepare the Surface of Garage Floor

In the beginning, you have to prepare the floor surface. If the floor is cracked already, then inspect the condition by using a chisel and hammer. You can discover the extent or depth of the crack by widening it. The cracks can be resurfaced and deep if you do not chase the sructure fully. Keep in mind that you should not widen the crack too much, otherwise, it can consume more repair products later.

2. Clean the Floor

If the surface is full of dirt, then it will be impossible for you to repair the crack. After widening the crack, use a brush and shop vac to reduce all the dirt and debris. After removing the large debris pieces with the brush, you have to use the vac to clean them thoroughly. If required, you can also clean it by using soap and water.

3. Apply the Solution

After cleaning the surface, you have to apply the bonding adhesive to the cracks to shut the cracks. Make sure to apply the mortar in the particular areas. Keep in mind that you need to apply the patching material at the end of the crack. Else, the crack can be resurfaced. After applying the second layer of the solution, you have to level off the surface by using a steel trowel. After that do not forget to remove the excess filler.

4. Let Rest the Solution On the Surface

Now after applying the solution and leveling off the surface, you have to cover the area and give it a few days to dry out. Make sure that the surface does not expose to direct sunlight to prevent cracks. Do not let anyone walk on the surface for at least two days and park the vehicle elsewhere for a week.
